WORK QUESTIONS

What do you do?
I own and run a consulting firm that focuses on fundraising and capacity building.

What is something unexpected you have experienced or learned at your company?
I learned that this career takes grit. In my 8 years of experience (since 2017), working with so many nonprofit organizations has taught me that you never really know what’s going to happen next.

What inspires you at work?
The opportunity to do good. Our business model allows nonprofit organizations to access the tools they need to grow and thrive.

Where do you plan to be in 5 years (professionally)?
Right where I am, continuing to improve the things that keep the business moving forward.

What is your favorite thing about working from Hone?
The professional credibility. In the sole proprietorship space, there’s a level of credibility that comes with being able to say: “Meet me at my office,” or “My office is across from Crossgates Mall.” Colleagues are impressed, and there are certain expectations that come with having your own space. People see you as more serious and committed to your work.

What’s your favorite place in Hone?
The café, the “living room” (member lounge space), and my office.

What’s your favorite part of your job?
People. I get to meet an incredible number of people and have had the chance to connect with others both locally and globally. I shine as the extrovert I am.

JUST FOR FUN

What is your favorite restaurant in Albany/Capital Region?
Druthers.

What is one skill you would love to learn?
Playing the guitar.

What is a fun hobby or interest you have?
I collect old maps, specifically ones of places that have personal meaning. For example, I own maps where the locations shown match present-day spots that are important in my life, like where I met my wife.

What is one item on your bucket list?
Visit every Double-A baseball stadium in the country.

If you could spend a day with anyone, who would it be and why?
I’ve been deeply interested in my family genealogy, and there has always been a mystery surrounding my great-grandfather’s departure from Ireland. We believe he may have been a rebel, since there are stories that he left quickly and quietly. I’d love to spend a day with him to learn the truth about his journey.

What is something that you know a lot about?
Work: Fundraising.
Personal: The mechanics of baseball.
