Meet Director of Community Operations, Matthew Michelsen

Matt is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations at Hone Coworks and creating great member experiences.

Matt was born and raised in Clifton Park, NY. He enjoys reading, building computers, hiking the Adirondacks, and pretty much anything outdoors.

Why did you choose Hone Coworks as your next career move?
Hone Coworks has the hospitality aspect of the restaurant industry but with a different approach. As I researched and learned more about flexible office space, being able to work with new people every day in a coworking setting was an interesting idea for me and I just loved the concept.

How will your past experiences translate to your success as the new Community Manager of Hone Coworks?
Working as the GM of a large restaurant in a highly populated area has given me the tools to work with almost any customer-related opportunities. A “guest first” philosophy has been the leading factor in how I handle almost all situations. I am a true believer in good customer service

What makes the Capital Region a great place to work and live?
The Capital Region has so much to offer! The opportunity for growth in this area is amazing, not just on a personal level, but for businesses ranging from large to small. There is always something happening, from farmers markets, concerts, pop-ups, to the incredibly fun nightlife in the area. Lastly, you have the Adirondacks being only a short distance away for anything outdoors! All around it’s a great area to work and live in for many reasons.

What is your favorite restaurant in Albany/Capital Region?
Hands down Tanpopo Ramen and Sake Bar. They have authentic Japanese Ramen, which is hard to come by. Their entire menu is extremely good, and they have a great selection of sake. The restaurant itself has a very cozy feel to it and the staff are great!

What is one skill you would love to learn?
I would love to learn how to play the piano. I’ve never been very musically inclined, but I’ve always liked how it sounds and how it looks very relaxing to play.

What is one item on your bucket list?
To travel to as many places as I possibly can! The one place I really want to go is Australia and go diving in the Great Beerier Reef. I love the ocean and would love to see the reefs before they are gone.
